Ah, we're doomed. There's no way they are going to think a species that created that is worth being given rights.

"It's a little low for a weather balloon; it might be some other kind." "Yeah. Besides, I know I'm the alien conspiracy guy, but come on--the idea that the government would care about hiding something so mundane as atmospheric temperature measurement is too ridiculous even for me."

I read tingham's "we" as referring to "government agencies," not "the American people." It is also very fascist for a government to suppress facts it doesn't like.

It's not fascist for governments to control their own messaging. I'm pretty sure that's been done for a very long time in many contexts. "Fascist" would look like forcefully controlling independent reporting on the matter. Since the night of Trump's election, hallucinations of constitutional crises have plagued a surprising number of people. The founding fathers gave us an amazingly robust system for leveraging Trump's strengths and stopping him when he goes too far. I'm glad to see it when he's checked (eg, his first attempts at travel bans).

You want to split hairs? Okay. It is anti-science for the government to silence its own scientists who are publishing factual scientific data that they don't like. That's not even a Trump thing, per se; it's a Republican thing in general.

Are any government agencies even allowed to do atmospheric temperature measurement any more now that we're no longer allowed to talk about the effects of global warming?

@tingham, who's not allowing you? If your freedom of speech is being violated I'd like to hear more about that.

tingham, that does not follow. Nothing in that article implies anyone is being disallowed from describing anything in any way they wish. The political party using the language derided in that article are much less likely to impinge on your freedom of speech than their opponents. If you're a US resident, please be assured that you are fully allowed to describe the effects of global warming.

Unless you work for the Federal Government, in which case "global warming" is definitely not allowed to be said in any work product.

Of course. When you're being paid by a company, you can't use the company's resources in any way you wish. Notice how we are shifting the conversation from, "We're not allowed to talk about..." to what a federal government employee can do in their work products. The original exaggeration I responded to is very Trump-like in its rhetoric. Have a good evening, gentlemen.

I was thinking of observing stars to verify Einstein's theory of relativity again, but I gotta say, that thing is looking pretty solid at this point.

Why Bernie Conspiracies Don't Amount to a Hil of Beans

Great graphic illustrates what I've been saying all along: If Bernie Sanders were really the choice of the people, he would be beating her -- like Barack Obama did.

P.S. This statement about Bernie Sanders is going around Facebook attributed to Barney Frank, whom the Senator tried to have removed along with Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy as co-chairs of the Democratic convention's platform and rules committees. Turned out Frank didn't actually write this -- but I'm glad someone did:
"The Democratic Party -- the party that gave this country its first African-American President, the party that is poised to give this country its first woman nominee of a major party and very likely its first woman President, a party chaired by a Jewish woman, a party which features the first openly gay member of the United States Congress on the party's rules committee -- isn't 'progressive' enough or inclusive enough according to a 75 year old straight white male who 'white flighted' his way out of the most ethnically diverse city in the country to the whitest state in the northeast United States and who just passed his 1 year anniversary of declaring himself a member of the party that he thinks that he is the only fit candidate to be the party's nominee for President. A nomination which if he can't secure it by the ballot, has threatened to secure it by lawsuits and more than just hinted at violence. Am I getting this right?"
It seems no one -- not even AIDS activist Peter Staley -- is pure enough for Sanders supporters.

While Biology hasn't created a new horseman of he apocalypse, hey have made him more effective with the creation of biological weapons. The Japanese army's Unit 731 made the greatest early advances in biological warfare. The rest of the world made exponential advances since then.
